George Carlin has passed away at 71

FUCK....
I saw him live last year. Great was an understatement. I guess it's fair to say he died at a ripe age and that he leaves an encyclopedia of work that will never be forgotten but that's not true. Humanity needed people like Carlin and I don't think any entertainer's passing has ever made me this sad.
"I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older; then it dawned on me - they're cramming for their final exam. " -George Carlin

You'll be missed man.

Euro 2008: The BBC Intro

Usually when a gigantic football event takes place, the BBC are always at hand to come up with a phenomenal intro title sequence. Now that England have failed to qualify, it seems as if things are different.
Here is the BBC's intro to this years European championships.

I have to be honest and say I just don't like it. Can't the beeb come up with something a little less parochial? The music is a cliche and there is no sort of build up. This comical approach lacks the passion of past intros and just makes it seem like a further excuse to ignore the Euro now that the homelands didn't make the cut. If this all seems a little harsh then I'll remind you of just the adverts of the last euro, 4 years ago....

Living in my shadow.

Life is getting tedious.... School is on my back like a chain-smoking monkey, and worst of all, I'm not even doing that well. Sure I could try harder, but the sheer fact that I'm making any sort of effort is new to me.
The honest truth is that I'm lazy and I'm pretty good at getting away with the bare minimum.
So what's the problem, right? The answer to that is Fulfillment, of which I currently have none. Once in a while... just to prove to myself, I like to raise the incredibly low bar I have set. So today....or should I say tonight, I will attempt to steer myself away from depression for a while and see what I'm capable of once again.
